Two commands in Claude Code. The mod registers an anonymous device and starts earning on your next prompt. No account needed yet.

Work as usual
While Claude works, the spinner shows one sponsored line and a side pane plays a short video. Views only count while you're at the keyboard: step away for 90s and the ad pauses until you're back.

Link and get paid
Run /sidecar link, sign in, and claim the device. Credits clear after 14 days and pay out from $10.00 through Stripe Connect.

Official mods API

Built on Claude Code's plugin hooks: the Spinner render site and a Pane. Nothing is patched, no settings file is rewritten, and updates come through the plugin marketplace.

Your work stays on your machine

No prompts, code, file names or transcript leave your machine. The mod sends a device token, which placements it can show, and how long the ad has played.

Impressions verified on the server

The server mints every impression and never accepts more played time than real time has passed. Advertisers pay for views that happened, and you are paid for them.

Pause any time

/sidecar pause turns ads off until you resume. Closing the pane stops the video; the spinner line keeps working on its own.

Open source mod

Read every line the mod runs, from the hook that sets the spinner to the heartbeat it sends.

Caps protect advertisers and you

At most one paid view per placement every 10s, 120 an hour and 600 a day per device. Published, not hidden.

Questions

How much will I earn?

It depends on what advertisers bid and how long Claude works for you. You get 50% of each qualified impression's clearing price. At an $8.20 CPM, one video view pays you $0.0041.

We will not quote a monthly figure. Early numbers from similar products are small, and your dashboard shows exactly what you earned and why.

Does it slow Claude Code down?

No. The mod runs as in-process hooks; ad requests and heartbeats are background network calls that never block a turn. If the ad server is unreachable, the mod says so in the pane and stays out of the way.

What counts as an impression?

A spinner line counts after 9.5s on screen during a turn. A video counts once it plays for its full length or 15s, whichever is shorter, while the pane is open and Claude is working. Time only accrues while a turn is running and you are at the keyboard, so idle sessions earn nothing.

What if I walk away while Claude works?

Views only count while you're at the keyboard. Typing in the prompt, sending a prompt or command, or pressing the ad pane all count as being there, and the prompt you just sent counts too. After 90s with none of those, the ad pauses and the pane says so. It picks up the moment you're back. Advertisers pay only for time someone could see the ad, and the server enforces that, not just the plugin.

Why is my money pending?

Every credit is held for 14 days for fraud review before it becomes available. Advertisers pay for real views, and the hold is how we keep it that way.

How do payouts work?

Once your available balance reaches $10.00, request a payout from your dashboard and it goes out through Stripe Connect.

Do I need an account?

Not to start. Each install earns as an anonymous device. To be paid, sign in and claim the device with the link from /sidecar link.

Does it work in the desktop app?

The spinner line works everywhere Claude Code draws a spinner. The video plays in the terminal; surfaces that cannot draw a raster show the ad as a text card.

Is Sidecar made by Anthropic?

No. Sidecar is an independent mod built on Claude Code's public mods API. Check your employer's policy before running ads on a work machine.
